1 Services
1.1 Do you provide installation services?

Trendy Blinds is headquartered in Richmond Hill with showrooms in Richmond Hill, Vaughan and Kitchener and definitely provide installation services to any project within the Greater Toronto Area and Kitchener/Waterloo region regardless of size.

Beyond these 2 regions we have installation crew that can go as far East as Cobourg, North to Barrie, South West to London, Ontario depending on project size.

When you create a log-in account, please enter your full address information and we can inform you if we provide installation services in your area.

For areas outside of our installation service radius, we do provide installation instructions and videos and the products can be quickly and easily installed by the homeowner or one could hire a local handyman.  We would be happy to provide phone and video support where needed.

1.3 Do you repair old blinds?

We provide repair services for blinds that we sold to the customer.   If the blinds are under warranty, there will be no charge for the repair service, however, their may be a trip charge for the installer to take down the blinds and reinstaller the blinds when repaired.

1.4 Do you provide alteration services for curtains and drapery?

We can alter drapery that we sold to the customers.  We first need to examine what alteration is needed and then advise our customers what we can do and the costs.  For drapery or curtains not bought from Trendy Blinds, we do not provide alteration services.

1.5 Can I provide fabric for your workroom to make curtains/ drapery for us?

Trendy Blinds offer a very wide range of fabric choices from almost all the brand name fabric suppliers and mills available in North America including JF Fabrics, Equus Fabrics, Eddiestone Fabrics, Soletex Fabrics, Allendale Fabrics, Maxwell Fabrics, Unique Fine Fabrics, Ennis Fabrics, etc.  You can go to these suppliers website to explore their offerings.  When you identified the fabrics you like, we could calculate the yardage needed and give a firm price for the drapery project.  Once agreed, we will purchase the fabrics as we have long-term accounts with them and can get you better pricing.

We also carry our own curated collection of fabrics called Deluxe Trends, which we keep in stock for faster turnaround times.

It has been our experience that fabrics sourced from big box stores that sell to end consumers or fabrics purchased overseas by homeowners, are not suitable for making quality drapery products.

2 Product Offerings
2.1 Is everything I see online on website your complete offering?

No, we only show are more popular offerings and only the more popular finish choices.  We have more product categories, styles, finishes, and options available in our showrooms.  For locations click here

2.2 On your corporate site www.trendyblinds.com I see Graber but you don't show them online?

Yes, we are a major dealer of Graber Blinds.  To see their detail offerings go to www.graberblinds.com and select what you like and email us at [email protected]  We can provide you with swatch samples and pricing.

2.3 My window size is larger then what I can select in drop down menu?

The product size limitations are usually listed in the product description section on the product page.  For oversize windows, you may have to split the windows into 2 or 3 sections.

3 Features & Options
3.1 For the Zebra or Combi Shades do they provide Blackout?

Zebra Shades do not provide full blackout.  Instead, for the Room Darkening fabric options, they provide Room Darkening.  Some light still filter through through the fabric and also with the gaps between the front and back layers, light have a direct path into the room at a steep angle.  Room Darkening provides sufficient darkening needs if you sleep at night.  For shift workers who sleep during daytime and are particularly sensitive to light, you many want to consider blackout Roller Shades, blackout Drapery, blackout honeycomb shades or blackout roman shades.

3.2 I have an odd shaped arch window that needs to be covered. Is there any solution that just covers that arch window?

Yes, we do custom valances.  We trace the window to create a template for the custom valance.  Our solution provides blackout and can also be removed and reattached without any tool.  Check this page on our website for photos and more details: click here

3.3 What is the best solution to cover the glass on a French Door or Entrance door?

Most shades and blinds solutions can be mounted directly on the door in an outside mount application.  However, there are 3 factors to consider when selecting the right solution: 1) typically the door uses a levered handle which leaves only a 1" clearance gap for the shade to pass through; 2) ideally the shade should be physically attached to the door at the bottom to prevent the shade from swinging outwards to hit someone when the door is opened or closed; 3) A child and pet friendly cordless lifting solution should be selected for operating the shade.  Given these three criteria, honeycomb/cellular shades have options that meet all 3 criteria at a reasonable cost.  You can check here for details: click here

3.4 What should I consider when choosing whether to motorized or automate a shade (use remote control, app control or smart-speaker control)?

A reliable motor for window shades will never be as cheap as non-motorized lifting options.  The extra components and moving parts material costs alone will be more the a manual lifting solution.  Be highly skeptical of motorization option upcharges that are similar in price to manual cordless options.  Corners were cut in the motor quality to hit target price points.

The smart approach is to first determine which windows do you really need to automate or motorized the shades.  Not every window needs it as it will be often fast and easy to manually operate some blinds and shades.  Then go for the most reliable quality motor.  Remember that manufacturer warranties do not cover the service trip charges, and setting appointments and waiting for fixes also cost you valuable time -- time that you could be enjoying using a quality shade that don't have problems to begin with.  There are many more factors to consider such as how you plan to use the shades, how you want to control the shades, integration with smart home systems, etc.  We have in-house experts that can consult with you free of charge to identify the best options for you.
